Which Bra Size
is Right for You?
How do you measure your breasts?
The importance of wearing a bra that is the correct size cannot be overestimated. Not only because it looks good, but also for health reasons too. Your breasts and consequently your bra size changes over time and relates to your present condition, especially when you become pregnant, are lactating or even breast feeding. It is best to measure yourself every two years or so preferably a week before your period. You can follow the measurement guidelines below to ascertain the best bra size for you at this present time.
Begin With Your Your Band Size

In order to find out what band size you are, you need to measure yourself on your rib cage underneath your breasts where your bra band normally sits. Making sure to keep the tape measure level all the way around your body.
Your band size is measured to the nearest even number, rounding up where necessary. For example, if you measure 31.5 inches, round this odd number up to the next even number, which is 32 (as seen in the illustration below), then your band size is 32. If you measure 32 (an even number) then your band size is also said to be 32. It is vital that you measure this corrrectly, having your band size too large means that your bra will not support your breasts adequately. The band should fit comfortably around your rib cage and should not be too tight.
Measuring Your Bust Size

Next you must measure your bust at the widest part of your breasts, that is directly across the nipples. Again, making sure to keep the tape measure level all the way around your body.
Calculating Your Cup Size
To calculate your cup size subtract your even numbered band size measurement away from your bust measurement. In our example the band size was 32 inches and the bust size was 38 inches, giving a difference of 6 (e.g. 38 - 32= 6).
Look up the difference in the table below to find your ideal cup size.

In our example your band size was 32 inches and your bust size was 38 inches making a difference of 6 inches, which requires a DDD cup size (as shown in the table above). See Also: Breast Augmentation- Choosing Your New Bra
Your correct bra size would therefore be 32DDD, that is a 32 inch band with a DDD cup size. And that's all there is to it. Go measure.
